valuemaps

A values-mapping module for leadership coaching. It turns personal values into comparable data, so individuals and teams can see what they care about, where they align, and where they clash.

Student project by Anders, Denis and Jakob. Overseen by Tomas at Superior Skills.
▸ WHAT IT DOES
  • Maps personal values. Each user picks 15 values from a list of 58, narrows them to 10, ranks a top 5 and describes their top 3 in their own words.
  • Reports for individuals and teams. A personal value profile and a team overview.
  • Finds tensions. 15 built-in value conflicts (for example Trust vs Control, Stability vs Change).
  • Classifies team culture. The two strongest categories decide which of six culture types fits the team.
  • Scores cultural fit. A Cultural Fit Score (0–100) shows how well a person matches their team.
  • Supports AI coaching. Results are passed to an AI as structured data, so the coaching is grounded in the analysis.
▸ HOW IT WORKS

Value categories: Relation & Tillit, Resultat & Ansvar, Struktur & Professionalism, Autonomi & Mod, Utveckling & Innovation, Mening & Hållbarhet.

Culture types: Prestationskultur, Relationskultur, Innovationskultur, Stabilitetskultur, Resultat-entreprenöriell kultur, Syftesdriven utvecklingskultur.

valuemaps  —  TECH STACK

▸ FRONTEND  ·  MOBILE & WEB

React Native (Expo) + TypeScript. Handles the 58-to-top-5 value sorting funnel, renders team culture reports, and compiles to both mobile and web from a single codebase.

▸ SIMULATED MOBILE TESTING
  • Fastest: Expo Web + Browser DevTools (Ctrl+Shift+M responsive viewport) for instant hot-reloading.
  • Full OS: Waydroid or an Android Studio Emulator (AVD) for a virtualized mobile device on your desktop, or Expo Go on your physical phone.
▸ BACKEND  ·  PICK ONE
Option A  ·  Node.js + TypeScript speed

Best for speed. Frontend and backend share the exact same TypeScript files in one monorepo—no duplicate data models or extra tooling needed.

Option B  ·  Java + Spring Boot enterprise

Best for strict enterprise architecture and JUnit testing. Because Java and TypeScript can't share code files directly, you either write matching data models twice or use OpenAPI.

▸ OPENAPI  ·  THE BRIDGE FOR OPTION B

A 2-minute Spring Boot plugin (springdoc-openapi) that reads your Java controllers and automatically generates an interactive browser testing dashboard (Swagger UI) plus a JSON blueprint (openapi.json).

You can optionally use a CLI tool (openapi-typescript) to auto-generate your frontend TypeScript interfaces from that blueprint so your backend and frontend never drift out of sync.

▸ DATABASE

PostgreSQL (via Docker) for storing users, teams, value mappings, and JSON snapshots of the AI coaching output.
